Welcome All Change As A Blessing

Change is constant - we all know that. It does not always make it any easier to deal with change though. Just because we know it is inevitable, we still can find ourselves hoping and wishing that things will stay the way they are. Even when we are in a negative situation, we sometimes would rather stay in the negativity than venture out into the unknown. Fear of the unknown is just that powerful.

Recently I was faced with a challenge in my life and, although I knew I needed to make a change, I found myself hesitating to do anything about the problem. In my case, I believe I was hesitant because I did not want to face unknown territory and possibly have to work very hard in order to rebuild my life in this one area. It seems like I do not always have the energy to put into a day of activity when I am facing big changes. I tend to get a bit lazier and I mope around more than I would care to admit. In my case, I sometimes have to wait until the situation gets worse before I become motivated to take positive action.

As it turned out, it was in my best interest to take action, face the change head-on, and move into uncharted waters. It is never as "bad" as I think it is when a change takes place. My imagination takes over and I always negatively project into the future. I have always survived; I have always landed on my feet; I have always learned from my experiences. Change is really not that bad after all - I just do not always see it until after I have completed the process of the change itself.

So, the next time you are facing a change, try a new approach. Remind yourself that you have always come through previous changes in your life. In fact, some changes have probably been great blessings for you in the short or long run. I will remind myself too. We can help each other to remember that change can be a blessing for us. If we try this approach, I will bet that we will go through the changes in a smoother fashion. And that can only be a good thing.

Today I will welcome the changes coming in my life. I will remember that I always land on my feet and that I have friends who will always help me every step of the way. I am grateful. - K Kerswig, CPC, CRC
