"A Drop In The Ocean"

"We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop." - Mother Teresa, Christian missionary and winner of the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize

Sometimes doubt creeps in. We think that no matter how hard we try, nothing is going to make a difference when it comes to the big picture. Yet this quote about drops in the ocean reminds us that we are all contributors and we all make a difference.

The focus, therefore, can shift to this: 'What can I do today to help anyone who crosses my path?' If we can remain focused on what is put in front of us just for today, then we can let go of feeling overwhelmed and we will usually get more accomplished.

Staying focused on this day and remaining intent upon being the best "drop in the ocean" we can be will help us make a difference to one or even many. It is not important to keep track of how many people we have helped. It is most important that we always reach out and do something, anything, to listen and help others wherever and whenever possible.

Today I will be happy to be a drop in the ocean. I will help, I will listen, I will reach out to others. I am grateful to do so.
