"Ultimately, we have just one moral duty: to reclaim large areas of peace in ourselves, more and more peace, and to reflect it toward others. And the more peace there is in us, the more peace there will also be in our troubled world." - Etty Hillesum, diarist
To reflect peace toward others can bring amazing results. Have you ever tried to do this? When we focus on reflecting love and peace toward people we meet, the days just seem to go well and we usually feel better about ourselves. So, if we get such positive results by doing this, why does it seem so hard to do some days?
The difficulty lies in the mind. There are days when we are overcome with thoughts of self. There are days when we cannot seem to get out of our own way. There are days when we just want what we want, when we want it. Usually those are the days we want it NOW!
The reality is that we cannot have everything we want when we want it. Some things need to be earned, some things are not ours to have, and some things are not what we need at this time. So what can we do? Maybe we just need to remind ourselves to put the focus back on reflecting peace toward others. If we get sidetracked and begin to get caught up in our own problems, maybe all that is needed is a reminder to self that our job is to reflect peace, love, and kindness toward others. That helps us take the focus off of our problems and back onto positively interacting with people. It could work.
We live in a troubled world today - there is no doubt about that. Yet, we have the power to turn that around by leading others to reflecting peace too. If we lead enough people in that direction, the world could become less troubled and more inclusive. Will you give this a try? This might be the answer - we will never know unless we give it a legitimate try. Join me now in reflecting our inner peace throughout the world. Namaste.
Today I will reclaim peace within and reflect it toward everyone I meet. I accept this as my purpose in life and I am grateful for this opportunity. I am grateful, truly grateful. - K Kerswig, CPC, CRC
