Let's Grow More Radical

"Women may be the one group that grows more radical with age." - Gloria Steinem, political activist and writer

This is cute and probably true too.  I'm not sure if I'm growing more radical with age.  It seems that the longer I'm around, the less I really know.  I was very opinionated when I was younger and it was important to me that I convince everyone I was always right.  That didn't work out so well.  I was usually at odds with most of the people in my life.

I've become more open-minded in recent years, I'm happy to report.  This allows me to accept more people into my life with love, tolerance, and compassion.  I'm open to different viewpoints and I no longer feel the urge to "convince" everyone that I'm right all the time.  I can learn so much from others.  A friend taught me to ask myself if I want to be happy or if I want to be right.  I choose to be happy these days.

Maybe this adjustment in my perceptions is my way of becoming more radical with age.  I'm not sure.  All I can say is I'm glad that I'm continuing to grow and learn every day.  May I remain teachable for the rest of my life.
