"Common sense is seeing things as they are and doing things as they ought to be." - Harriet Beecher Stowe, novelist and humanitarian
Oh, this sounds a lot like reality to me. Reality scares me sometimes. I don't always like to see things as they are. It's as if I try to protect myself from feeling any kind of pain by not looking at the truth. This way of living hasn't served me well, I must admit.
My focus has changed in recent years. I do my best to do things as they ought to be done now. I've actually found it to be the easier way to live. It takes me less time to get projects completed, I don't have to continuously come up with excuses as to why I'm not following through on an obligation, and I get more accomplished. I used to waste so much time complaining, worrying, and fretting over doing things perfectly that I never got anything done. And, to make things worse, I wasn't able to see things as they truly were so my relationships suffered considerably.
I'm grateful that I'm living in the real world today, with a little common sense to keep me on the right path. I guess I'm making progress - thank you God!
