"Parenthood: The state of being better chaperoned than you were before marriage." - Marcelene Cox, writer
Well, now, this is a fact! I love this quote.
If you've ever had children, you know the kind of change this brings to your life. It is a responsibility like no other. Raising children takes time, energy, money, and sometimes lots and lots of prayers as well. It is not possible to just pick up and go somewhere, anywhere, spontaneously. There are diaper bags, baby supplies, and feedings to consider. There are schedules to meet and lack of sleep for children can really cause some drama.
All of this leads parents to sometimes stay home rather than take the risk and put forth the extra effort needed to go out on a regular basis. Hence, I would have to agree with the statement that parenthood equals better chaperoning. :)
It's important to remember to take care of ourselves even if we are busy raising children. Self-care allows us to approach each day with better attitudes. A good attitude helps us face chaos and challenges that can pile up if we aren't careful. To all of my friends who are raising children right now - blessings to you! Enjoy it because kids grow up quickly!
