"Self-esteem is the basis for feminism because self-esteem is based on defining yourself and believing in that definition." - Susan Faludi, feminist and writer
Defining ourselves is not always easy. I spent years doing everything I could to avoid learning more about who I was and what I wanted from life. And, because of that avoidance, I struggled day after day with life on life's terms.
Once I decided to spend more time with me and I became aware of what my likes and dislikes were, I started to make significant progress in defining who and what I wanted to be. And with that progress came a stronger belief in self as well.
I don't know if self-esteem is the basis for feminism but I do think that defining and believing in ourselves (whether you're a man or a woman) makes for a much more fulfilling life experience.
