"Albert Einstein, when asked what he considered to be the most powerful force in the universe, answered: Compound interest! What you have become is the price you paid to get what you used to want." - Mignon McLaughlin, writer
Well, this will make a person think twice about the price paid to get to their destination! The question is - are we happy with where we have ended up and what we have received in this journey?
I know that people change as time goes by. We learn lessons over the years and many times our opinions change about what is important and what isn't as important as it used to be. This quote is a reminder for me that I know in my heart I am becoming the person I was meant to be. I'm reaching out more, I'm trying new things, I'm gaining self-confidence, and I'm focusing on how I can help others. When I focus on helping others, I help myself too.
When I offer to listen to a friend, I usually end up hearing what I need to hear and I'm able to make improvements in my life as a result. As I give, I receive. This is not a unique situation - it is true for everyone. The more it happens, the easier it is for us to try it again.
So, as I re-read the quote above, I am reminding myself that there is a price paid for reaching this point in my life. My goal now is to spend wisely so that I can continue to grow and learn and become a better person. I am grateful.
