"If you're going to be able to look back on something and laugh about it, you might as well laugh about it now." - Marie Osmond, entertainer
Laughter can help the healing process for me. But I'm not usually very good at laughing at a serious or chaotic situation as it's happening. I'm more of a "react now, think later" kind of woman. That's not always the ideal personality trait to have during difficult times; I can assure you of that.
I certainly understand what Ms. Osmond is saying here. There's so much energy wasted in worry and anger during challenging moments. That energy could go to better use by working with others or asking for help to solve whatever dilemma one is facing. I know that my sense of humor has saved me on many an occasion. I've become accustomed to pointing out the humor in situations to lighten things up so I can get back on track. Most of the time it works.
Life can deal us some difficult blows sometimes. But, for the most part, I find that laughter helps me in so many ways. Serious situations deserve serious attention. But when things just aren't going my way, laughter always helps me deal with stress and drama. Thank you God for the gift of laughter.
