"I never think of age. I've no time. I work. Retirement? I don't know what that is. One works or one cannot work - that would be death." - Nadia Boulanger, composer, conductor, and professor
Age is just a number as they say. It seems as if more and more people are working through their retirement years - sometimes out of necessity and sometimes out of desire. No matter what, we do not need to allow our minds to get old. Attitude has so much to do with our experience in life.
We all know people who amaze us with the energy they have and the zest for life that is evident day after day after day. We also know those who 'act' older than they are, complaining of ailments all the time and moving slowly and awkwardly due to their aches and pains. What category do you fall into? Some people truly have legitimate physical problems but they are still filled with vitality and happiness. Appreciation for what we have rather than judgment of what we do not have can help us feel young even as we are getting up in years.
This is not to say that people should never recognize ailments or medical issues. But many patients who are facing life-threatening diseases know that positive attitudes and visualization exercises can help in the fight against disease. Continuing to have a focus in life, whether in retirement or not, helps to keep us young at heart and in our minds. Age is still just a number.
Today I will focus on the positives that life is offering me now. I am truly grateful.
