Shopping For A Spouse

"People shop for a bathing suit with more care than they do a husband or wife. The rules are the same. Look for something you'll feel comfortable wearing. Allow for room to grow." - Erma Bombeck, columnist

It is wise to always allow room for growth. It does not matter how old we are or what we do for a living; our life experience will always be richer if we remain open to learning new things and growing in the process. Shopping for a spouse is not a common phrase in many areas of the United States, but the concept of putting care into the process of choosing a partner for life could benefit all in a universal way. Choosing with care helps us face life-changing events with confidence and determination.

Relationships work best when each person respects the other. They work best when each person is able to pursue their dreams without fear of judgment or criticism. They also work best when the connecting bond is based on finding similarities and the focus is taken off of making comparisons to find any and all differences. Identifying with each other can make the relationship that much stronger. It is worth putting in the extra effort.

Today I will look to spend time with people I am comfortable with and who will all me the room I need to grow. I will give them, in turn, room to grow as well. I am grateful.
