"The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience." - Eleanor Roosevelt, first lady (1933-45) and reform leader
There seem to be many different ways to define the purpose of life. I like this idea expressed by Mrs. Roosevelt. Experiencing life to the utmost was not always one of my priorities. When I was younger, simply existing was all I could handle. Waking up and facing life on life's terms was just too daunting for me.
Things are different for me today. I'm living an exceptionally full life now, thanks to friends who showed me how much life has to offer. They had such a strong faith in a power greater than themselves - life just seemed exciting for them. Surprisingly to me, as my faith has developed over the past few years, my love of life has grown exponentially. I'm so grateful for the friends who showed me this way to live. They taught me so much about gratitude, taking action, and helping others. The more I help others, the happier I am. And, that, in turn, makes me eager to experience more new things and venture out into life rather than hiding from it. I don't live in fear anymore because of my faith in a Higher Power. Thank you God!
Today I will reach out and help others. I am grateful for my life today. I am blessed.
