"I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back." - Maya Angelou, poet, educator, historian
I love sports so I get this concept - I'm visualizing what it would be like to try to play baseball this way. It wouldn't work. Now visualize trying to get through life in general wearing these mitts on both hands. Again, it wouldn't work - at least not for me. I need to be able to "grasp" some things and take action without being hindered in some way.
This quote reminds me that I must give away what I have in order to keep it. I've learned that the more I give, the more I receive. I don't have an explanation as to why this works, but it does. I've got friends who shared this concept with me because it worked for them too. It's amazing! And, now I love giving back to others - it's become a natural habit for me. I don't have to look for the rewards to come back to me - they simply come as a result of helping others and giving back (or throwing back as the case may be). All I need to do is share my experience, strength, and hope with others. God is in charge of the results. The gifts I receive back are priceless.
