Write Your Own Script

"You define your own life. Don't let other people write your script." - Oprah Winfrey, TV personality, actor, and founder of O Magazine

I'm defining my life today. I'm writing my own script today. Are you?

I used to love to play the victim. I enjoyed telling people all about my problems. I had lots of problems and lots of "problem people" in my life and I would tell you all about them if you gave me the chance. God bless those people who remained my friend even after I made them listen to my "issues" over and over and over again. :)

I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but there came a day when I got sick of hearing myself complain. I wasted a lot of time complaining for many years and I found that I was ready to do something different. In recent years, I've come to realize that life is a gift and I want to enjoy it all. I want to enjoy the people who come into my life and I want to appreciate all there is - the good, the bad, the beautiful, and the magnificent. My thinking has shifted and that's allowed me to stop the complaining and start showing love to everyone who comes my way (well, most of the time anyway).

Human beings are not perfect and I am a human being, so some days aren't as "complaint-free" as I would like them to be. But I have a greater appreciation for my existence and I know that everything I experience just becomes a part of my script. Thank God I've learned to define my life. That's quite a gift.
