Let Others Discover

"It is far more impressive when others discover your good qualities without your help." - Judith Martin, journalist, author, and etiquette authority

Well, that makes sense to me. I'm not fond of listening to a person brag about their best qualities or their material belongings. It's a turn-off to me. And I'm not the kind of person that brags at all. I'm apt to be the one to put myself down before I would ever brag about how good a person I am or how much I have in my possession.

I am humbled when someone compliments me on a good quality I exhibit in some way. I don't like to take credit for what I do these days. I received a second chance years ago when I turned my life around and started acting responsibly. I feel as if the compliments aren't necessary - the things I do and the actions I take should have been happening all along. It just took me awhile to accept responsibility for all that I do.

So, with all of these admissions on my part, I know that I'm not the terrible person I make myself out to be but I'm not perfect either. Today I choose to allow others to discover who I am by simply being me. I'm so glad I can do that now. Thank you God!
