"There's nothing wrong with wearing a hat and cowboy boots if you want to be a country singer. But when you open your mouth, have something new to say. Have your own style. - Pam Tillis, singer and songwriter
I understand what this quote is saying here. It's okay to "dress" the part in a situation, but having my own style is really what it's all about for me today.
I spent many years trying to be something that I was not. I tried to fit in with whatever group of people I was with at any given period of time. I was afraid to voice my opinion because I wanted everyone to like me. I had no idea how to be me. I was much too busy trying to figure out what people wanted from me so they would want to be my friend.
Through the years I've learned that it's okay to be me. I'm learning what my likes and dislikes are and I'm sharing those with the people who are closest to me. I'm getting to know myself more and I'm enjoying this growing process. I do have something new to say these days. Look out world - I'm getting my own style now!
I pray that I continue to learn about me and develop my own style. This life is such a blessing. I'm truly in awe of the gifts God has given me - including the lessons I needed to learn. They've all brought me to this moment right now. I look forward to each new day now. Thank you God!
