Purest Of All God's Gifts

"I have learned that to have a good friend is the purest of all God's gifts, for it is a love that has no exchange of payment." - Frances Farmer, actor

Isn't this a beautiful statement? I know this to be true; at least in my life it is. I have been blessed with some special people in my life who don't look for something in return when they do something nice for me. They do it because they care.

As I get older I realize just how precious the gift of friends can be. It has been my experience that just when I need my friends the most, they appear with the help, kind words, and hugs that I need the most. I have several "good" friends who have seen me through some very difficult times. They have loved me when I haven't been able to love myself. They've encouraged me when I needed to be reminded that I have something good to offer the world. They've cried with me when I've needed to release some emotional pain. They've laughed with me and not at me when I've done something silly, intentional or otherwise.

The love I get from my good friends is priceless. I believe that these beautiful people have come into my life as a direct result of God's guidance - both for them and for me. We love, help, and comfort each other. I pray each day that I may be the best possible friend I can be and that I release any selfish desires that may stand in the way of my being there for my friends. Thank you God for this most precious gift of all. I am truly blessed.
