"People pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become. And they pay for it simply: by the lives they lead." - Edith Wharton, the 1st woman to win the Pulitzer Prize in Literature
There is a price and/or a consequence for every choice I make. Sometimes the price is not very high; sometimes the consequences are minuscule. But sometimes, at least for me, the price is so high that lives are changed forever.
This quote is a reminder to me that my life is a direct result of the choices I make each and every day. I'm very content with the life I'm leading these days. Of course, I'm making better choices now. I paid dearly for the bad decisions I made in my earlier years. I hit such an emotional bottom that I didn't think there was a way out. I allowed myself to become a selfish and self-centered person and I was ashamed of myself. I've shared on this blog many times that some friends came along to help me up, dust me off, and they showed me the way to a better way of living.
The good news now is that the life I'm leading today is incredible as I continue to make decisions based on my true desire to help others. I got a second chance in life after hitting my bottom over fifteen years ago. I'm proud of the life I'm leading today and I choose to continue to follow this path. As long as God guides me, all is well.
