"I've never quite believed that one chance is all I'll get." - Anne Tyler, Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist
I'm glad I'm not the only one who believes we get more than one chance in a lifetime. However, I don't want to take anything for granted either. Life is a precious gift and I don't know how much time I have. I'd better make the most of it.
I have direct experience in this area. I made quite a mess of my life in my earlier adult years and there was a point back in the mid-nineties when I didn't even want to go on living. I got another chance though. I believe the people that came into my life at that time were sent from a power greater than myself. I was given multiple chances to come around to a different way of thinking and living. And, eventually, I did come around and I've been blessed with an awesome life as a direct result of the changes I made in my thinking and in my behavior.
One thing is for sure - I don't want to take this life for granted. I want to always remember that life is a gift. I don't know how much time I'll have here and I want to make the most of every second I'm given. I must admit I'm extremely grateful that one chance isn't all we get. Thank you God!
