"An education is like a crumbling building that needs constant upkeep with repairs and additions." - Edith Wharton, the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize in Literature
It is true that our education system needs constant upkeep. It is sad though that education is compared to a crumbling building here in this quote.
After reading this, I'm left with a vision of concrete and bricks laying strewn all around, with dust flying and papers everywhere. Education is so important, but I feel helpless to change the situation.
But I know I'm not completely helpless. I can offer up prayers to improve the education system in our country. I do not work directly in the education field but I can encourage my friends and their children to contribute to our education system any way they can. I have tremendous respect for those who teach children and adults in our country. It is a difficult job with so many challenges nowadays. Blessings to everyone who is doing their best to educate people everywhere. May I always be willing to share what I know with others and learn new things from people in all walks of life.
