Embrace The Present

"You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present." - Jan Glidewell, columnist

I've been known to hold onto the past way too long. I've gone over scenarios in my head repeatedly, trying to figure out what would have worked better. It wouldn't have changed anything but I have done this to myself anyway. Living in the past has never gotten me anywhere so I've given up doing that on a regular basis. Sometimes I forget myself and slip back into old behaviors, but for the most part I don't torture myself that way anymore. I don't deserve that kind of beating.

Isn't it a beautiful thing when we can fully embrace our lives and be in the present moment? There is nothing better than to be alive and well, enjoying each moment as it happens. We can fully embrace life at any time! The key for me is always going to be my willingness to step out there and do that embracing.

Today I will let go of the past, leaving it where it belongs - behind me. I cannot change anything I've done before this moment now. Today I choose to fully embrace the present, to live in the moment, to enjoy every minute of life I have. And if I stray, I will  get back to the present as soon as possible. All is well and I am grateful.
