We All Have Power

"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any." - Alice Walker, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and poet

There are different ways to interpret this quote. My interpretation may not be the common one, but it's mine so, here goes.

I immediately thought about the power that comes from the God of my understanding when I read this quote. I believe I have an infinite supply of "power" within me and that I can tap into at any time. I have choices today because I know God will guide me towards the right path. I must remain open-minded and willing to follow the guidance as it comes. There are times when I don't know what to do in a situation. I've come to realize that doing nothing can be considered doing something - if I'm unsure, I simply wait. Eventually I come to know what the next step should be. All I have to do is "listen" to my inner voice. Waiting is not always easy for me, but it works nonetheless.

I don't want to have "power" over anyone. I don't have to force my ideas upon anyone else. Today I am grateful I have this magnificent power to tap into and use. I believe everyone has it - we all come to realize it in different ways - but it's always there. Today I pray that I may remember just how much power I truly have within.
