Focus Is A Choice

"It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend...when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present - love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature, and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure - the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience heaven on earth. - Sarah Ban Breathnach, best-selling author

This is so true and beautifully written. Focusing on what is missing in my life gets me depressed and serves no purpose whatsoever. Focusing on the abundance in my life brings me nothing but joy, peace, and serenity. So why is it so hard for me at times to make the right choice?

I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that I am human and I am never going to be perfect. Oh well, this is a fact I must accept. Some days I will make the right choice; some days I will not. I can say I'm getting better at making the right choice more often than not. I celebrate the fact that I am making progress in this area. I've been able to experienc that feeling of being in heaven on earth from time to time. The more I practice making the choice to focus on the abundance in my life, the more joy I get to experience.

So, here's my plan - the secret garden I choose will be the one of abundance. If I find myself leaning in the opposite direction, I will change my focus as soon as possible to get back on track. I will not expect to be perfect in any of this but I will expect to improve as I continue to practice choosing abundance. I am grateful to have the choices I have today. Life is good!
