Invent Yourself

"Human beings have an inalienable right to invent themselves." - Germaine Greer, writer and feminist activist

I never thought about inventing myself. It never occurred to me - ever! I've mentioned many times here on this blog that while I was growing up and then in my young adult years, I spent my life existing and surviving. Life felt like it was to be endured, never enjoyed. I was miserable most of the time. If I'm honest, I'm sure most of my family and friends could attest to that.

As I continue on my journey these days I've come to believe that anything is possible. I'm on a spiritual journey now and my friends have shared their experience with me so that I can follow in their footsteps. We may all have different concepts of a Higher Power, but they've shown me how to walk on a spiritual path. As I think about the quote above, I must admit I feel as if I am inventing myself. Wow! I'm amazed at where my life has taken me so far. It all started because I was willing to listen to others.

So, for today, I will continue to connect with the God of my own understanding. I will pay attention to the messages that come my way each day. And, I will remain forever grateful to God and to my friends and family, for they all have guided me to this point. I am filled with peace, love, and joy - on most days. I am not perfect. But I am human and I am open to all possibilities.
