Mistakes We Didn't Commit

"The mistakes you regret the most in your life are the ones you didn't commit when you had the chance." - Helen Rowland, journalist

Take a chance; live life to the fullest; don't have any regrets - I remember hearing all of these things when I was younger but I didn't completely understand what people were talking about. Now that I'm a little bit older, I get it!

I took dancing lessons when I was a little girl and continued my lessons all the way through high school. My dream was to become a Rockette and perform at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. I was afraid to take the chance though. I chose to got to work as a secretary instead. Then I got married and had my two children. I'm glad I did everything exactly as I did. I love my children and couldn't imagine life without them. I don't consider anything I did a "mistake", but I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I had pursued my dream of performing on Broadway. My fear of failure got the best of me when I was nineteen years old. I don't know what could have happened if I had gone for it anyway.

I believe that everything happens for a reason. I have sometimes made choices that I knew weren't in my best interest. I do much better when I listen to my inner voice and choose the things that are for my highest good. I don't have many regrets at all. I know that every single event in my life has molded me into the person I am today. I just pray that I can continue to improve as a person and learn from all of my experiences, a day at a time.
