We Are All Becoming Persons

"Women are, at last, becoming persons first and wives second, and that is as it should be." - May Sarton, poet, novelist, and memoirist

When I read this quote, I immediately turn my mind to all persons rather than just women. We are all "persons" who are striving to live life the best way we can. May Sarton was born in 1912 and so she lived during the times when women were fighting for the same rights and freedoms that men enjoyed, including the right to vote. It must have been a very difficult time for many, yet the dedication of those who fought for these rights and freedoms changed our world forever.

I find myself concerned for all people on our planet nowadays. My personal belief is that everyone is connected through a power greater than ourselves. Some may call that power God, others may call it the Universe, and others may call it Spirit. It can be called many things but it is a special power that I want to recognize in everyone I meet. We are all becoming the best "persons" we can be. I want to always respect just how special this spiritual connection truly is.

I pray that I will be caring, loving, and respectful to all the people I meet and interact with today. May we all treat each other with the loving respect that every human deserves.
