Twenty Million Volunteers

This is an incredible statement and could bring about such wondrous change if all Americans actually did this. I try to volunteer throughout the year but I don't think I can say I volunteer five hours a week. Maybe I'll have to re-think my schedule.

There are many valid and important causes that need the help of volunteers in order to keep their doors open. Volunteering not only helps the cause; it also helps the person volunteering. When I give back, I get out of my own head and I begin to pay attention to the struggles that other people are facing. So we all end up benefiting from the effort. I just need to put others first and stop thinking about my problems long enough to help someone else. The results could be astounding.

If we did what is suggested above, together, we could all make an enormous difference in the world. Today I will pray that more and more people turn to volunteering until we are all donating five hours a week. It could really happen. I hope you join me.
