Without Knowing

"I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it without knowing what's going to happen next." - Gilda Radner, actor

Wow, this says so much. Life really is about not knowing. Our ability to adapt to change dictates how we experience life. Gilda Radner was faced with a very difficult challenge and yet this is her quote, showing me that she was wise and a beautiful spirit on so many levels.

I have learned most of my lessons the hard way too. I was someone wanting to be rescued, like a princess. I used to fantasize about other people doing for me what I should have been doing for myself. I'm glad I became aware of what I was doing (and not doing). It took some time and lots of practice, but eventually I came to enjoy the process of changing and growing on a day-to-day basis. I am getting pretty good at making the best of life even though I don't know what tomorrow is going to bring.

I have let go of my desire for a perfect ending. I welcome life as it comes now, sometimes a day at a time and sometimes five minutes at a time. Thank you, Ms. Radner, for sharing all that you did with us.
