"The important work of moving the world forward does not wait to be done by perfect men." - George Eliot, nineteenth-century novelist
If we all waited until we could do something perfectly, we would all still be waiting to get started! Moving the world forward is a big job to tackle, so we need to start somewhere.
I used to get caught up in perfection. I would sit and ponder over projects that needed to be done. I would procrastinate and then worry about deadlines I needed to meet for certain jobs. It actually became a significant problem in my life and I couldn't find a way to turn things around.
One day a friend of mine shared a secret that helped me begin to take action even if I didn't think I could achieve perfection. She asked me how I could eat an elephant. I had no idea what she was talking about and I was clearly annoyed as I said "I have no idea!". She then said that famous line - "One bite at a time". I needed to learn to take action and trust in the process of getting to the results. One step at a time is the answer to everything I tackle now.
This much is true - I want to be a part of moving this world forward. In order for me to be a part of that, I need to be all about action and less about pondering and putting things off and thinking too much. Today I will do all I can do to move the world forward in a positive way.
