Funny Or Brave?

"I'm not funny. What I am is brave." - Lucille Ball, entertainer

Lucille Ball was, is, and always will be my favorite comedienne of all time. I grew up in a time when the show "I Love Lucy" was a must-see for every kid growing up in my neighborhood.  I think I watched at least one episode every night of my life for years. I still watch those reruns today. They don't make shows like that anymore.

Watching TV was usually the highlight of my day when I was growing up. I was able to escape reality for awhile when I watched TV shows and I loved escaping reality. I would fantasize about what it would be like to live in a family like those depicted on shows such as the Andy Griffith Show, the Dick Van Dyke show, Father Knows Best, and Make Room For Daddy, just to name a few. My home life wasn't like the ones shown on TV and I wanted that kind of existence more than anything else.

Years later, as I reflect back on that time in my life, I realize I wasn't living in reality. I wasn't dealing with life on life's terms and I wasn't being present in the moment. Instead I was finding fault with everything I had and wishing for things to be different. I don't feel that way anymore though. I have all I need and life is a blessing from God as far as I'm concerned. I'm glad I don't have to daydream and fantasize anymore. I'm living life in real time now and lovin' every minute of it too!
