"We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world....There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won't feel unsure around you." - Marianne Williamson, spiritual activist, author, lecturer, and founder of The Peace Alliance
This is one of my favorite passages from Marianne Williamson. In the past, I tended to shrink into the background in fear that someone may ridicule me or disagree with me if I attempt to express my opinions or try to participate in a discussion that might bring up some controversy. This quote reminds me that I'm not fulfilling my potential by acting this way.
As I've continued on my spiritual journey, I've come to pay attention to the many messages that come to me through readings and people I meet up with throughout my day. One of the consistent messages I'm getting these days is the one about my purpose in life - it is to give. That's the bottom line - I'm to give always. As I give, the universe takes care of the payoff. I naturally receive good as I share myself with others. I don't need to worry about how much money I will make or how much praise I will get. My sole purpose is to give - give of myself with all of the resources I have at my disposal. When I do this, I'm well taken care of by the God of my understanding. I believe that ties in nicely with the quote above from Ms. Williamson. It's best to focus on serving the world.
For me, my goal every day is to serve my Higher Power in whatever way I can, so that I can help others in this world for as long as I'm here. I'm grateful for the messages that come to me now. Keep 'em coming! I'm paying close attention. :)
