Creativity's Worst Enemy

Believing in Ourselves: 2012 Day-to-Day Calendar

"And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt." - Sylvia Plath, poet and novelist

Writing has been the theme of these calendar quotes in the past few days. And, I have to agree with this one - I've been writing about everything these days. Small posts on Twitter, longer comments on Facebook, and, of course, short essays here on my blog. Everything is writable!

I'm coming to know myself better as I continue with this writing project. As I look for ways to describe what I'm feeling, I tap into my inner Spirit and words begin to flow. Sometimes it's fluid, sometimes it's choppy, but it always comes together in the end. I like the phrasing in this quote. Having the outgoing guts to put these posts out there is a gift that I didn't think I would appreciate so much. But I do. This has been the best way for me to get to know myself.

Self-doubt is not welcome anymore. It may creep into my thinking from time to time but I don't hold onto it anymore. Creativity is a part of all of us. I just had to believe I had creativity of some sort within me. The rest just fell into place.
