"It is in his pleasure that a man really lives; it is from his leisure that he constructs the true fabric of self." - Agnes Repplier, essayist
Taking time out for leisure activities - that's a great idea! I can get so caught up with work at times that I even think about the job while I'm supposed to be out having fun with friends! I don't think that's supposed to happen when I'm going out with someone or a group of friends. LOL
At times I've allowed anxiety to get in the way of experiencing the pleasure that life has to offer. Worries can keep me from seeing the everyday miracles that happen all around me. Fear can keep me from accepting an invitation to a movie or a party because I feel more comfortable isolating. It's during these times that I need to get out and enjoy myself; have some fun with friends; get out of my own head.
It's very rare for me to get so caught up in worries these days that I can't enjoy my leisure time. I've learned to place my trust in God and enjoy the precious gift of today. I'm not perfect at it yet, but I keep practicing because the more I practice the better I get. I am really living today, as the quote says. Again, all I can say is I am grateful - thank you God!
