Waiting For A Gift

"The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach - waiting for a gift from the sea." - Anne Morrow Lindbergh, author, pilot, and winner of the Hubbard Gold Medal

Can't you just see this as it's described? The phrasing of being empty and open and choiceless paints a picture of beauty and calmness for me. I choose to be all of three of these every day. The payoff is astounding.

The more open I remain to all possibilities in my life, the more opportunities suddenly seem to appear. Take it from someone who lived in the world of anxiety and impatience. I wanted everything to happen immediately. Instant gratification was the only thing that made me feel okay about myself. I never knew about the concept of "trust the process". I've since learned that God is constantly working in my life. I just need to trust Him and know that all is well, all of the time.  Once I learned this, I began to open myself up more and more to new possibilities. That's when my life took an incredible turn and I haven't looked back since.

Today I will remain open to all that God has to send my way. I love the phrase "choiceless as a beach". This creates an image in my mind that is useful in meditation today, while I await the gifts from the sea. They will always come; may I always be ready to receive them.
