"For lack of attention a thousand forms of loveliness elude us every day." - Evelyn Underhill, writer
When I am focused on self, when I am obsessed about something, when I am afraid of losing something I have or not getting what I want, those are the times when I miss experiencing all of the miracles throughout my day.
I've learned that being present in the moment is how I can best experience life. The thousand forms of loveliness referred to here always materialize if I'm alert and not caught up in self. I've recognized that I can remind myself throughout a tough day to get in the moment and release my cares or perceived needs to a power greater than myself. Once I've released my concerns, I'm free again to marvel at the world around me and the people I'm blessed to meet up with each day.
Today I pay much closer attention to everything around me. Some days are more difficult than others but I remember that I can start my day over at any time. All I have to do is ask God for help and the loveliness suddenly surrounds me once again.
