Firm Determination

You Learn by Living: Eleven Keys for a More Fulfilling Life

"The trouble is that not enough people have come together with the firm determination to live the things which they say they believe." - Eleanor Roosevelt, first lady (1933 - 1945) and reform leader

Talking the talk isn't enough for me these days. In order for me to feel peaceful and serene I must be walking the walk. It doesn't have to be a "perfect" walk, because as a human I'll never achieve perfection. But I can certainly strive for excellence.

I heard this comparison on the radio earlier today. The show was from Unity Online Radio (http://www.unity.fm/) and the show was "Universe Responding". Valleri Crabtree is the show's host and she was describing the differences between striving for perfection and striving for excellence. As she was sharing her thoughts, I couldn't help but think of the many times I gave up on completing a task because I just knew I wouldn't be able to complete it "perfectly".

Well, those days are behind me now. I will never be perfect and I have no desire to try to be that way. Today I strive to do my absolute best in everything and leave the results up to God. I have that firm determination that Mrs. Roosevelt refers to in this quote. I'm living and believing in the same things now and I pray that more people will choose this path. It's simple but not easy to do. I know we can do it if we come together with this common purpose in mind. Let's give it a try, shall we? :)
