"We have war when at least one of the parties to a conflict wants something more than it wants peace." - Jeane J. Kirkpatrick, the first woman to be appointed U.S. ambassador to the United Nations
This is a clear statement describing the conditions needed to set up a conflict. And the phrase that stands out for me is "at least one of the parties". This indicates that both parties or all parties involved could all want something more than it wants peace. That's worrisome.
I know in my heart that love and forgiveness are the answers to all of my problems today. Please note that I am speaking strictly about me now. I must acknowledge and accept conditions as they are and then I can show love to those around me. If they hurt me or don't do things the way I think they should be done, it isn't my place to judge them. I am here to love and help others. The rest is left to my Higher Power.
I'm human though and sometimes things bother me more than they should. That's when I have to pray. So, I do the best I can and hope that others see what I'm doing and maybe they might decide to do the same thing too. I've been taught that leading by example is the best thing I can do as one person in the midst of all this chaos in the world today. If I look at all of the conflicts throughout the world I get overwhelmed immediately. But if I just do my part and pass this along to others, then some progress can be made.
Today I pray that more parties involved in today's conflicts decide they want peace more than they want something else. I pray that more people learn to lead by example so we can turn this around. And so it is!
