"Women know what men have long forgotten. The ultimate economic and spiritual unit of any civilization is still the family." - Clare Boothe Luce, dramatist, author, politician, and diplomat
In today's world, I don't think men have forgotten this anymore than women have . I do happen to agree that family is "the ultimate economic and spiritual unit". The key factor to remember here is that families consist of many different combinations of people. And that's a beautiful thing.
My "family" has grown over the years and it has nothing to do with blood relatives having babies. It has to do with those men and women I have chosen as my friends, who have accepted me into their lives, and who have taught me to love unconditionally. We depend upon each other in a way that defies all odds. I never knew I could find such a wonderful group of people.
I can only speak on my experience here. Others may feel differently but this is what has happened for me in my life. I am grateful to have so many friends in my life. I am grateful to know that I can turn to them when I am in need or distressed. I am grateful I can turn to them when something wonderful happens in my life. I am grateful. ;)
