Take Your True Place

"I do not wish to give women a first place, still less a second one - but the complete freedom to take their true place, whatever it may be." - Elizabeth Blackwell, the first female doctor in the United States

Everyone should have the "complete freedom to take their true place", man or woman, child or adult. Those of us living in the United States have the freedom to take our true place, wherever and whatever it may be. We just have to know where we want to go and we must do the footwork to get ourselves there.

I find I enjoy walking side-by-side with people today. It's not as enjoyable for me to be "ahead" of anyone, no matter what I'm attempting to do. I know that I am not perfect and there are times when I do want to be ahead of others. I have human emotions and I don't fight these emotions blindly anymore. Instead, I allow myself to feel the feelings and then I move on to the next task at hand. Sometimes I'm able to do this quickly and sometimes slowly. The most important part is for me to do so as soon as possible.

Today I pray that I will appreciate the complete freedom I have to take my true place in life. I will give to others and I will do the work that is put in front of me today. I am grateful.
