"Any woman who understands the problems of running a home will be nearer to understanding the problems of running a country." - Margaret Thatcher, the first woman in European history to be elected prime minister
In today's society, both men and women are faced with the problems of running a home. I understand that years ago it was not always this way. Many women took on the responsibility of running the home while the man of the house would earn the income to support the household. Things have changed - drastically!
I have no idea what it would be like to run a country even though I have spent my entire adult life trying to run a home to the best of my ability. I must admit that I did not do a good job at all in the beginning. I was selfish and self-centered much of the time and my family suffered as a direct result of this. I have improved in recent years and I have done my best to make it up to my family but they are just a few people. I cannot even fathom what it would be like to have the power to run a country, trying to make the best possible decisions for the "highest" good of everyone involved.
I know that politicians are looked at as liars and cheats much of the time. Not everyone is crooked who has been elected to a government position and not everyone is legitimate. I am simply saying that it is a huge task and responsibility that would put any man or woman in a difficult and challenging position. My prayers are needed for all involved in running the countries of our world today, not my criticism.
Thinking about this subject reminds me that I am responsible to vote for those people (men or women) who best fit the position and I am called to keep our country and the world in my prayers so that peace and harmony may become the norm. I am grateful to know this is what I should be doing now.
